Owen Hergenrader '18 Named Finalist for Prestigious Scholarships

Hutchison is proud to announce that senior Owen Hergenrader has been named a finalist for the Wells Scholars Program at Indiana University Bloomington and a semifinalist for the Coca-Cola scholarship.
Owen distinguished herself among thousands of applicants because of her challenging academic course load, servant leadership with the Salvation Army and 901 Volunteens, and prowess as a 3-sport varsity athlete. This past summer, Owen participated in an internship at AutoZone where she worked with Hutchison alumna and Senior Program Specialist Ann Camp Lee '79. There she discovered her passion for process improvement and researched ways to fulfill customer orders faster and compete with online retailers.

Owen assisted Ann with a customer survey to better understand gaps in the order fulfillment process and to identify how the Memphis fulfillment center can improve its processes to better serve online customers. She also participated in an AZWin roundtable discussion, AutoZone’s diversity initiative to attract, mentor, and promote more women at AutoZone. Her internship solidified her interest in pursuing a supply chain management or industrial engineering degree in college.

As a Science Research Fellow, Owen has demonstrated a tremendous work ethic taking 4 AP science and 2 AP math classes and completing more than 175 hours of research.

Congratulations on this terrific honor, Owen!
