The Hutchison Distinguished Alumna Award recognizes and celebrates alumnae who are making a difference in the world through exceptional professional achievement, singular artistic creation, and selfless and visionary service. Susan Emmett ‘01 is the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Alumna Award. As an ear surgeon with an interest in global health, Susan’s work has taken her to far-flung corners of the globe, from rural Alaska to Nepal. Her humanity and contributions as a global citizen are traits we try to instill in Hutchison girls each day.
The Alumna Service to Hutchison Award recognizes the school’s appreciation for exceptional and longstanding service to and advocacy for Hutchison. The recipient of the 2020 Alumna Service to Hutchison Award is Christy Smith Muller ‘91. For almost 30 years, Christy has been generous with her time, talent and treasure. Whether she’s serving on the Alumnae Association Board or Hutchison Fund executive Committee, organizing Alumnae Weekend or the Tennis Round Robin, or mentoring future entrepreneurs in upper school, Christy is all in.
Anne Marie Newton Walker '47 Philanthropy Award
Created in recognition of Anne Marie's passion for, and service to, her alma mater, The Anne Marie Newton Walker '47 Philanthropy Award is presented to an alumna who advances philanthropy to Hutchison through personal giving and serves as an inspiration to the larger community to give. Aggie Ming Turley ‘40* is the recipient of the 2020 Anne Marie Newton Walker ‘47 Philanthropy Award. Aggie first stepped on Hutchison’s Union Avenue campus in the Fall of 1936, and it was love at first sight. With 37 generous gifts over the span of 25 years, she never passed up a chance to give back to her alma mater, inspiring others and continuing to lead by example.
