At Hutchison, the arts actively engage girls in critical thinking and problem solving experiences. As they learn to imagine new possibilities through the fine arts, girls are better able to create changes in their artwork, school work, and the world around them as they voice opinions, explore personal concerns, and produce dynamic solutions to creative problems.
Dance, choir, orchestra, theatre, visual arts, and digital media and communications are part of the early childhood, lower school, middle and upper school curriculum as a way to explore the human experience and its cultures. The fine arts curriculum is aligned with coursework across all divisions and grade levels. Girls wanting to continue building skills in the arts throughout upper school and beyond can advance to pre-professional levels with the Certificate of Arts, awarded at graduation, along with the Hutchison diploma.
