A Summer Fellowship Connected This Hutchison Girl With Her Passion
How do Hutchison upper school girls spend their summers? Senior Heather Guglietti spent hers exploring urban planning with a Hutchison Serves fellowship!
As a part of her Hutchison Serves Fellowship, Heather researched transportation accessibility for Memphians with local organizations including Bikeway and Pedestrian Program, and MIFA. Her fellowship required 80 site hours and 20 research hours, and will culminate in a capstone project and presentation later this fall. Heather used her fellowship opportunity to learn more about working in nonprofit and government organizations, especially in urban planning, which she hopes to pursue as a major in college next year.
She also had the chance to connect with and work for Hutchison alumna Linda Marks '63 while at MIFA. "We so enjoyed Heather’s enthusiasm for learning about the challenges our Transit clients face and the ways we are able to help make their lives better. She was a great help to our Transit staff, and they were grateful for the opportunity to work with her. And of course it was a joy to me, from the class of 1963, to be with such a bright, interesting, and creative member of the class of 2018!"
Way to go, Heather!
