Hutchison Girls Honored for Leadership & Volunteerism
Five Hutchison students were among seven Memphis-area students honored at The Salvation Army’s Founders’ Day program for their leadership in volunteerism and fundraising.
Owen Hergenrader ’18 (front row), Clairborne Collier ‘23, Dabney Collier ‘20 along with Macy McCullough ’18 (back row) and Elizabeth Cole ’19 were inducted into the Salvation Army Order of the Bell society and recognized by Captain Shelley Bell (left), Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell (center), and Captain Zach Bell (right), during the program. All five are active members and leaders of the Salvation Army teen volunteer group, called the Give, Pray, Serve Squad, which organizes and hosts hands-on events once a month benefitting the women and children assisted by the Purdue Center of Hope and the Kroc Center of Memphis.
Middle school English teacher Lauren Huddleston, who is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, had two articles published by Edutopia.
The College Board has named Micca Lejwa ’20 a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, an honor reserved for a select number of outstanding students based upon their PSAT scores.
At first, Caroline Couch ’20 wasn’t sure what this past summer was going to look like. Some of the programs she had been interested in, hadn’t panned out. Then, suddenly in May, Caroline’s summer schedule got exponentially busier.
During her senior year at Hutchison, Brittany Trimble ’08 started charting her course. She emailed a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and said something along the lines of: “I hear you’re a fighter pilot, and I would like to be one. Please help me.”
Trimble admitted her note was a bit more formal than that. But that was the gist.
Hutchison's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat received seven nominations in the Orpheum Theatre Group's annual High School Musical Theatre Awards.
At the National Scholastic Art & WritingAwards competition, Caroline Seamons '20 and Isabella Smith '22 earned prestigious Silver Medals for their artwork.

Freshmen Shubhi Singh and Annabelle Bridgforth won scholarship money and a trip to the State Capitol as part of their achievements on the Tennessee Secretary of State’s annual civics essay contest.
Athletics Director Catherine Chubb accepted the 2017-2018 A.F. Bridges Divisional Award on behalf of Hutchison from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).
