A Hutchison Girl Strives to Do Better

Dear Parents,

This past Monday our 2016 senior class graduated at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, where Hutchison has held its commencement exercises since 1929. If you would like to see some wonderful pictures of our graduates and their flower girls, please visit the graduation photo album on our Facebook page.

During the ceremony, we recognized three girls for their academic accomplishments and strong character. Isabel Risch and Carolyn Simpson earned top academic honors, and Carolyn also received the Edward P. Russell Award. This award is presented to a senior who through her leadership and devotion to Hutchison's founding ideals brings honor to herself and the school.

Eliza Sims was our Ideal Hutchison Girl, voted on by her classmates. The Ideal Hutchison Girl best represents the ideal woman as described in Proverbs 31— honest, understanding, trustworthy, courteous, humble, industrious, sincere, obedient, and noble. As our girls aspire to these lofty ideals, we encourage them with the sage advice of poet Maya Angelou who once said: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

A Hutchison girl, whether a current student or a recent graduate, strives to do better. With that in mind, we will send out our spring Honors and Accolades email tomorrow. Be sure to look for it to see the amazing work our girls have been doing.

Sincerely,

Annette Smith
