Micca Lejwa '20 Earns National Recognition

The College Board has named Micca Lejwa ’20 a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, an honor reserved for a select number of outstanding students based upon their PSAT scores.
During her 15 years at Hutchison, Micca has spent her time studying computer science and engineering, working as a stage manager in our award-winning theatre department, and dedicating herself to mastering multiple languages. When she graduates this May, she will have taken 13 Advanced Placement courses and earned a Certificate of Science, a distinction reserved for students whose passion for science has led them to conduct independent research and complete a capstone project. Upon graduation, Micca is set to become the first student to receive Hutchison's Seal of Biliteracy for both English and Spanish AND English and Chinese.

In addition to her noteworthy work in the classroom, Micca’s list of extracurricular activities is just as robust. She interned at Express Employment Professionals to learn more about IT, integration of software, and how to create, develop, and maintain a website; participated in the St. Jude Scholars of Tomorrow Symposium; and created Coding Camp, a program for girls in grades 3-6 to learn binary code.

What’s next for Micca? She plans on studying Arabic and continuing to pursue the sciences in college. We know she will continue to excel in all her endeavors, and we can’t wait to see the amazing things she does after she graduates!
