Philanthropic Literacy Grant Application Deadline

All grant applications are due by noon.

APPLY FOR A 2018 PHILANTHROPIC LITERACY GRANT

Hutchison’s student-run Philanthropic Literacy Board is pleased to announce this year’s theme for its student grant: Substance Abuse Awareness, Prevention, and Aid. This year’s board members feel the need to address this prevalent issue in the Mid-South, especially as the ongoing opioid epidemic intensifies. Therefore, this year’s board has chosen to disburse grants to non-profit(s) in the Mid-South that target substance abuse awareness, aid, and/or prevention through education and seek to address the issues associated with it.

Organizations and proposals for programs should meet any or all of the following criteria: educating students and/or adults on the dangers and effects of substance abuse, working with victims of substance abuse to combat the issue and reach a healthy lifestyle, and facilitating the recovery process for victims through educational and effectual means.
The Committee will award one or more grants totaling a maximum of $5,000. The deadline for this application is to apply by noon on February 16, 2018.

HUTCHISON COMMUNITY SERVICE ENDOWMENT FUND

The Hutchison Community Service Endowment Fund offers a unique 21st century learning experience for upper school girls. Through direct involvement with the decision making processes that accompany managing a grant dispersal fund, girls develop skills in financial literacy and a lifelong understanding of the powerful responsibilities that come with how and why particular projects and organizations receive funding. The goal of the Community Service Endowment Fund is to generate interest income distributed to Memphis-area nonprofits. Girls administering the grants serve on the Philanthropic Literacy Board and work with The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis to make wise investments, solicit requests for proposals, evaluate applicants, and manage the grants once they are awarded.
