Four Girls Earn State Choral and Orchestra Honors
Four Hutchison girls earned positions in the All State Orchestra and Choir, which is organized by the Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA).
Monica Fleck ’18 was named All State 11-12 Orchestra, Viola 2; Madyson Bolton ’18 was named All State Honor Choir, Second Soprano; Sarah Austin ’17 was named All State Honor Choir, Second Soprano; and Becket Monaghan ’19 was named All State Honor Choir Alternate in the First Alto Section. To make it to All State, our girls first had to compete in regional finals and then re-audition for state with only about six weeks to learn new material.
All State repertoire is more difficult than All West, and conductors come from all over the country to work with these young musicians. Conductors and students will have two days to rehearse before performing at the Opryland hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The girls attending will head to Nashville on Wednesday, April 5, for rehearsals. Choir concerts will take place Friday, April 7, beginning at 6:00 pm. Orchestra concerts are Saturday, April 8, and Monica will play at 11:00 am.
These girls represent the best of the best in the entire state of Tennessee. We are so proud of our girls’ hard work, determination, and passion for music. Way to go!
