  • Challenging Academics

We believe a girl's education is about more than academic success; it's about building a foundation for a life of purpose and impact in a world shaped by new technologies like AI. By cultivating an environment where curiosity is celebrated and questions are encouraged, we empower each girl to become a confident, adaptable citizen, ready to find her voice and chart her own path.

Early Childhood: Our Reggio Emilia-inspired program encourages girls to explore their interests, fostering a love of learning that will last a lifetime. In addition to weaving core academic foundations into every project, we actively develop each girl's confidence and agency in age-appropriate ways, ensuring they build the skills they need to grow and to thoughtfully engage with the world around them.

Lower School: We're committed to building a strong academic foundation with individualized support. We help girls master core concepts while nurturing a problem-solving mindset, teaching them to approach challenges with creativity and an open mind.

Middle School: This is where girls develop independence and resilience. By encouraging self-discovery and healthy risk-taking, we help them build the confidence to navigate challenges, analyze information, and find their unique voice in a digitally-connected world.

Upper School: With academic excellence as our guide, we empower girls to build their own journey. Our unique college counseling process begins in 8th grade, serving as a powerful tool to help them define their future aspirations and strategically chart a course to achieve them, all while equipping them with the skills they will need to lead and innovate in an AI-driven future.

Faculty in all divisions work collaboratively across disciplines so that every grade level builds on the skills developed in the previous year. Discover our academic programs.

  • Exploring the World through STEM

Learning the scientific method and the engineering design process begins in Early Childhood as our girls begin to make observations about the world around them. The Katherine and John Dobbs Farm and the lake are integrated into our curriculum, enabling girls of all ages to apply what they are discovering in the classroom through activities in nature.

Regular visits to the Science Lab, Design Lab, and Dobbs Farm inspire curiosity in lower school girls as they dive into various science disciplines through hands-on projects and collaborations. Middle and upper school science classes incorporate experiments and labs, bringing the different topics that they study to life.

In Upper School, unique courses such as AP Environmental Science and Zoology, mentorship and internship programs in the Institute for Responsible Citizenship, and student organizations including Society of Women Engineers Next and Astronomy Club offer opportunities for our girls to expand their horizons.

  • Building Community and Responsible Citizens

Our graduates are ready to go anywhere they can imagine by cultivating a healthy balance and becoming global citizens.

This starts in early childhood as we teach our girls to live in community, and our acrostic values and advisory curriculum focus on the character traits that shape our girls’ success. Beginning in fourth grade, our girls learn to engage in deeper, more meaningful dialogue, which happens through structured R.E.A.L. discussions in middle school and more student-directed civil discourse seminars in upper school. They practice skills from learning to ask thoughtful questions to respectfully disagreeing and backing up opinions with evidence.

The Institute for Responsible Citizenship connects classroom learning to real-world impact, guiding students as they explore civic responsibility, compassionate leadership, and ethical decision-making. Through comprehensive seminars, career exploration opportunities, networking with alumnae and local professionals, and global travel, the Institute helps our girls discover how their individual talents and contributions can lead to rewarding careers as well as lives of purpose. The established Hutchison Leads, Hutchison Serves, and Hutchison Invests programs embody our school’s commitment to this goal.
