Hutchison’s myExperience Program (short for multi-year experience) is a new comprehensive three-and-a-half-year initiative for high-achieving upper school girls to elevate their civic engagement and leadership skills in a structured co-curricular learning opportunity. Thought-provoking peer discussions and regular meetings with an assigned mentor, along with relevant travel and internships culminate in a college-level self-directed research paper or project.

COHORTS

Qualified students will embark on an interdisciplinary journey to explore global issues in the context of one of four cohorts.

Art & Design

Students explore the impact of the arts and elements of design on our communities. Travel, internships, mentor assignments, and the culminating research project may focus on perspectives ranging from sustainable design and eco-friendly urban landscapes to art in public places, art accessibility, or integration of arts and medicine.

Global Civic Engagement

Students explore how global and community-based engagement impacts the world and its communities. Travel, internships, mentor assignments, and the culminating research project may focus on how communities have mobilized to address specific issues such as environmental threats, the safety of vulnerable populations, or the opioid epidemic.

Entrepreneurship

Students explore new business endeavors through the lenses of community engagement, leadership, and socially conscious decision-making. Travel, internships, mentor assignments, and the culminating research project may focus on entrepreneurial ventures that exhibit these values through hiring practices, procurement, or product distribution.

STEM

Students will explore how the principles of science, technology, engineering, and math impact our daily lives. Travel, internships, mentor assignments, and the culminating research project may focus on how STEM can provide viable solutions to global challenges ranging from food insecurity to how climate shifts are impacting densely populated areas.
