Hutchison Senior Named Finalist for TSSAA Miss Basketball

Congratulations to Ava Jones ’26 for being named a finalist for the DII-AA Miss Basketball honor!
The Sting’s leading scorer this season is up for a big honor, and her accolades speak for themself. Regional Freshman of the Year, 1,000+ career points by the end of her junior year, and being named to the All-Region team four times are just a few things that stand out. In her senior season, here are some statistics as of February 12:
  • 18 points per game
  • 8 rebounds per game
  • 4 assists per game
  • 3 steals per game
  • 3 blocks per game
  • Top 5 in the City Scoring
“It’s been a pleasure coaching Ava for five years. Miss Basketball was a goal of hers, something she set her sights on this year,” said Thomas Jones, Hutchison varsity basketball coach. “She’s such a wonderful kid on and off the court. I’m happy for her and her parents, who I am very thankful for. Ava makes Hutchison great.”

Ava is committed to continue her athletic career at the University of Pennsylvania. We are so proud of all that she has done and what will come next! The Miss Basketball awards ceremony will take place on March 10.
