“This is truly exciting for me, especially since it was one of my goals from the beginning of the year to become a finalist. I am really proud of all the time I have put into this achievement. I couldn't have done it without Coach Jones, the athletic trainers, and the team, who have been supporting me and my goal,” Ava said about the honor.

Hutchison Senior Named Finalist for TSSAA Miss Basketball
Congratulations to Ava Jones ’26 for being named a finalist for the DII-AA Miss Basketball honor!
The Sting’s leading scorer this season is up for a big honor, and her accolades speak for themself. In her senior season, here are some statistics as of February 12:
18 points per game
8 rebounds per game
4 assists per game
3 steals per game

“It’s been a pleasure coaching Ava for five years. Miss Basketball was a goal of hers, something she set her sights on this year,” said Thomas Jones, Hutchison varsity basketball coach. “She’s such a wonderful kid on and off the court. I’m happy for her and her parents, who I am very thankful for. Ava makes Hutchison great.”
Ava said she couldn't have gotten this far without support from Coach Jones, athletic trainers AJ Kegerise and Kelsey Mooney, and the team. She is committed to continue her athletic career at the University of Pennsylvania. We are so proud of all that she has done and what will come next! The Miss Basketball awards ceremony will take place on March 10.
