Early Childhood Trike-a-thon Raises Record Amount for St. Jude
As a nationally ranked school for St. Jude fundraising, Hutchison has donated more than $100,000 through the trike-a-thon over the past 12 years.
More than 115 riders from the Little Hive, pre-kindergarten, and junior kindergarten rode their trikes, bikes, and scooters in front of the Abston Early Childhood Center this morning for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, while parents and girls from other divisions cheered them on. This year, Hutchison raised $10,500, the most of any year since we began participating in 2004! As a nationally ranked school for St. Jude fundraising, Hutchison has donated more than $100,000 through the trike-a-thon over the past 12 years. The trike-a-thon helps teach our girls the value of giving back to the community and instills a lifelong passion for service and philanthropy.
We asked Kristen Farmer Davis ’99 about some of her past experiences, how those influence her work with Hutchison students today, and what she’s excited about in her new role.
Hutchison’s Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum weaves critical skills development throughout the school day. As girls progress to the next grade and beyond, they revisit the same traits that they first learned in Early Childhood.

It’s a special memory for Gabrielle Arkle ’12. When she was younger, she visited the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. The museum features more than 150 restored aircraft representing the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation.
If there’s one thing Elizabeth Blankenship-Singh ’08 knows about, it’s pivoting. It’s something she has done successfully several times and something she believes Hutchison prepared her well for.
