Catherine Chubb Receives University of Memphis M Club Award
Hutchison’s assistant head of school is the first recipient of the Lynn Parkes Award, which is given to a former student-athlete who has had a profound impact on the community through women's athletics.
Coach Chubb’s contributions to athletics at Hutchison have made and will continue to make an impact on generations of Hutchison girls. She is an extraordinary leader who uses her athletic instincts to lead strategically and guide Hutchison to proactively think and plan both on the granular and macro levels. The University of Memphis M Club presented the award in April at a special ceremony.
A former college athlete, she played soccer at The University of Memphis and is still tied for the most assists in a single match by a Tiger. Prior to her role as assistant head of school, Coach Chubb served as athletics director for over 20 years. During her tenure, she brought the first girls’ lacrosse program to Memphis in 2002 and increased athletic participation so that nearly 80% of Hutchison girls play at least one sport. Hutchison’s athletics program was awarded the A.F. Bridges Divisional award under her leadership.
She is a leader in athletics beyond Hutchison. She recently served as the Division II West Tennessee representative on the TSSAA Legislative Council and won the TSSAA School System Administrator of the Year Award in 2024. She has also served on The University of Memphis M Club Board of Directors since 1998 and as president for three terms.
Coach Chubb is always doing what’s right and demonstrating to student-athletes, coaches, and peers that a great leader can possess both competitive fire and impactful integrity. She has helped athletes and coaches maximize their potential with character, humility, and sportsmanship. She is a tireless champion of our students and has a brilliant ability to get our athletes and their parents to see that resilience and determination are often born in challenge. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of every individual fortunate enough to call her a mentor and a coach.
Congratulations to Coach Chubb on her well-deserved recognition!

It’s a special memory for Gabrielle Arkle ’12. When she was younger, she visited the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. The museum features more than 150 restored aircraft representing the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation.
If there’s one thing Elizabeth Blankenship-Singh ’08 knows about, it’s pivoting. It’s something she has done successfully several times and something she believes Hutchison prepared her well for.
The best coaches teach you lessons that last long after the final buzzer. Ten alumnae hope to impart what they learned through Hutchison athletics by coaching girls in sports such as soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and volleyball.
