Zoe Zerwig Ford ’23 Wins National Award for Aspiring Computer Science Students

Zoe Zerwig Ford '23 is one of two students in Tennessee and one of 40 students nationwide to receive the award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).
The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award, part of a national initiative focused on correcting underrepresentation in computing, recognizes high school students for their computing-related achievements and interests. Winners were selected for their experience, activities, leadership, and plans for post-secondary education. Zoe was one of 40 winners named from more than 3,500 applicants.

Zoe is currently taking AP Computer Science and is the founder of the SWENext (Society of Women Engineers) Club at Hutchison. She has completed several artificial intelligence programs and was named an AI Leadership Fellow for Inspirit AI, a Stanford and MIT alumni-run program.  

With the Aspirations in Computing Award, Zoe will receive a cash prize and computing resources. She will gain access to scholarship, internship, and networking opportunities through the NCWIT, which is a national network of universities, companies, nonprofits, and government organizations. This year’s winners will be celebrated in a virtual award ceremony in March.
