Tennessee Secretary of State Honors Young Writers
Freshmen Shubhi Singh and Annabelle Bridgforth won scholarship money and a trip to the State Capitol as part of their achievements on the Tennessee Secretary of State’s annual civics essay contest.
Shubhi won second place in the 9th-12th grade category and will receive $250 in scholarship money through TNStars 529 College Savings Program while Annabelle won third place and will receive $100 in scholarship money. Both girls will also take a trip to the State Capitol this spring as part of their prize.
This contest is held with hopes of encouraging students to be actively engaged citizens now and in the future. Students were asked to write about leadership with prompts and length requirements varying by grade level.
