Hutchison is thrilled to announce that Kristan Ash will be leading the Hutchison lacrosse program. She steps into the role of Varsity Head Coach starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
A connector and program builder with more than 30 years of experience, Coach Ash will lead the continued growth of a culture centered on character, connection, and competitive excellence. When Hutchison’s lacrosse program was started in 2002, it was the first girls’ school in Memphis to have a lacrosse team. To date, the team has garnered nine state championship titles.
Ash joins Hutchison following national leadership roles with 3d Lacrosse, most recently serving as National Director of Girls Lacrosse. In that role, she developed athlete pathways, scaled programming across multiple markets, and mentored emerging leaders in the game. She joined 3d in 2014 and quickly advanced to Senior Manager of the Mid-Atlantic division before being named General Manager of the United Women’s Lacrosse League, the first professional women’s lacrosse league. Previously, she was National Travel Director for Lakeshore Lacrosse in Chicago, developing nationally competitive teams and expanding access to high-level play.
A lifelong advocate for the sport, Ash has served as a coach, official, USA Lacrosse youth commissioner, and recruiting and nutrition resource. She holds degrees in biochemical and performance nutrition and is a frequent speaker on performance fueling.
In 2016, “KASH,” as she is known by her players and fellow coaches, was named head coach of Riverside High School in Northern Virginia, leading the Rams to a 10–5 inaugural season. She earned Virginia 4A Coach of the Year honors in 2017 and led the program to its first state title in 2018. Riverside remained a perennial contender, capturing another state championship in 2025, when Ash was again named Coach of the Year.
At Hutchison, Ash will focus on developing student-athletes, elevating program excellence, and empowering young women through sport. We can’t wait to see the energy, passion, and leadership she brings to Hutchison lacrosse!
“I am excited to welcome Kristan Ash as our new lacrosse coach at Hutchison,” said Dr. Kristen Ring, president and head of school at Hutchison. “She brings exceptional expertise, passion, and a proven track record of developing talented athletes and building strong team cultures. Our lacrosse program has already achieved impressive success, and I am confident that under Kristan’s leadership, we will elevate it to new heights, empowering our girls to compete at the highest levels while growing as confident leaders on and off the field. We are excited for this next chapter and the bright future ahead for Sting lacrosse.”
