Hands-on learning is one of the hallmarks of a Hutchison education. Thanks to many valuable community partners, the School is able to expand this teaching philosophy beyond the classroom. Through unique internships and memorable opportunities to help others, every community partner enhances the
Hutchison experience.Whether they shadow a renowned surgeon at LeBonheur Hospital, solve a problem at the West Tennessee STEM Hub at the University of Memphis, excel in a showcase performance at Theatre Memphis, or lend moral support to aspiring dancers at Company d, Hutchison girls can explore their passions and find what truly brings them joy. A seemingly ordinary
internship or a service project can launch a successful research scientist or ignite a passion for public service.
The pressing issues that face the broader Mid-South community offer teachable moments and inspiration to affect positive change. In keeping with our emphasis on shaping the leaders of tomorrow, Hutchison works with community partners to ensure girls think beyond themselves, and visualize success in the broadest sense. Traditional
service-learning is also very much a part of the curriculum. It is introduced in the earliest grades, most notably the successful annual Trike-a-thon for St. Jude in Early Childhood.
The popular
Center for Excellence (CFE) thrives on community partnerships for programming. The CFE opens the Hutchison campus to the entire community and it has become a valuable resource to area students and their families. Programming is available year-round. In any given summer, Hutchison hosts over 2,000 students representing more than 60 different public, private and charter schools.
