We look forward to welcoming our girls back to campus beginning Tuesday, August 18. Yes, things will look a little different this year, but we are excited to have our students and teachers together again! We consulted local health experts and CDC guidelines to create a reopening plan that prioritizes the health and safety of our students, teachers and staff. We will monitor the situation throughout the school year, and make adjustments as needed. Our Community Agreement outlines how each of us plays a role in a safe and healthy school year. The Hutchison community is strong and resilient. Together, we’ll get through this.

Keeping Our Community Healthy
We’ve spent the summer planning for a safe return to campus. From our advanced air filtration system and enhanced cleaning protocols to managing the flow of students across our campus, the Hutchison Health and Safety Guidelines explain the steps we are taking to keep our classrooms and campus as safe as possible. Additionally, parents can refer to division-specific plans, including mask requirements for girls in grades 1-12, as well as all faculty, staff, parents, and visitors to campus.
First Day(s) of School
Hutchison girls will be welcomed back to campus in two groups this year to provide adequate time for the girls to be trained and educated about our new health and safety protocols. Schedules beyond the first two days of school will vary by division. Families should review their division’s back-to-school handbook on myHutchison for additional information.
On August 18, girls in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 7th grade, and the predesignated Black cohort in Upper School will begin school.
On August 19, girls in our early childhood program (Little Hive, Pre-Kindergarten, and Junior Kindergarten) along with girls in 1st grade, 3rd grade, 6th Grade, 8th Grade, and the predesignated Gold cohort in Upper School will start classes.
Utilizing Unique Learning Spaces and Creating New Ones
Our spacious 52-acre campus provides fantastic outdoor learning spaces as well as large classrooms and small class sizes. We are building tented learning spaces outdoors, and high-quality video and audio streaming cameras have been installed in classrooms to livestream classes for our remote learners.
Social and Emotional Support for Our Girls
It’s natural for your daughter to feel anxious about all the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Our ongoing commitment to the social and emotional well-being of girls will be especially important this year. We know girls thrive when they feel connected to their community. We will continue to foster connectivity by providing opportunities to share feelings, enjoy time together, and develop those life skills that matter most during trying times.
Managing Suspected and Confirmed Cases of COVID-19
In the event that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19, Division Heads will notify impacted families and faculty/staff in the affected classroom or cohort within 24 hours. Students and staff will have to follow CDC protocols before returning to school. The entire protocol is included in the Health and Safety Guidelines.
