Senior Lacrosse Player Named Athlete of the Week

Senior student athlete Elizabeth Farnsworth was named High School Athlete of the Week by the Commercial Appeal after scoring 23 goals in three victories last week. Elizabeth is a three-time All-American, an Academic All-American, as well as Best of Preps Lacrosse Player of the Year in 2015. In 2016, Inside Lacrosse Magazine named her #6 on their list of Top Gun Juniors from across the nation.
Elizabeth is an integral member of Hutchison’s reigning state champion lacrosse team. In addition to her national ranking by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, her resume is filled with statewide and regional accolades. She also recently committed to play lacrosse at the University of Virginia.

It would be easy for such a gifted, and highly sought after athlete to be defined only by her prowess on the field. But Hutchison girls are encouraged to be multi-faceted; Elizabeth has risen to that challenge. A strong student, she has also sought opportunities to lead and give back off the field.  As junior class treasurer, Elizabeth was very involved with planning the Beeline Bazaar, an fair that showcases local artisans. The Beeline Bazaar is a student-run event that benefits the Hutchison Community Service Endowment Fund. Funds raised help support a community grant program. She also joined five AP Spanish classmates to study abroad in a summer Spanish immersion program. As a member of Crest Society, Elizabeth tours the school with prospective students and their families. As a sophomore in the Wilson Society, she created Chix with Stix to introduce the game she loves to young girls in underserved areas of Memphis. Elizabeth’s desire to make a positive difference in her community reflects the timeless values reinforced throughout her 15 years at Hutchison.
