What Makes a Hutchison Girl?

She's determined, adaptable, and analytical with a passion to lead, work hard, and reach for her goals. Meet Abigail White '18.
Senior Abigail White is a young woman who has distinguished herself as a scholar, athlete, and student leader. Within Hutchison’s rigorous college-preparatory program, Abigail has excelled. By the time she graduates, she will have taken seven Advanced Honors courses and seven Advanced Placement courses. She was also recently named a National Merit Commended Student. Across the disciplines, teachers remark on her industrious work ethic and her amazing ability to connect concepts.

While her academics are always her priority, Abigail has found key ways to be involved since her first day in the Upper School. Since freshman year, she has participated in Hutchison’s cross country and track. Even though running can be a very individualized experience, Abigail built camaraderie with her team by mentoring younger runners. For her senior year, she was elected co-captain, as her peers respect her encouraging words and admire her athletic talents. As co-President of the Government Club, she has been a key leader of the largest student group in the Upper School and raised the awareness among students of local and national politics. Most notably, Abigail leads Peer Council, a student-run organization dedicated to creating a vibrant student culture. Working closely with administrators, she oversees approximately twenty mentors.

Last summer, Abigail participated in the leadership program Tennessee Girls State, conducted an internship with a Memphis neurosurgeon, and attended the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar.

We applaud Abigail for being a determined, adaptable, and analytical student with a passion to lead, work hard, and reach for her goals!
