Senior Selected to Prestigious National Honor Ensembles Symphony Orchestra
Monica Fleck ’18 has been selected as a member of the prestigious 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles Symphony Orchestra for the Viola Section. This orchestra is composed of the top performing high school musicians in the United States. Monica will travel to Orlando, Florida, in late November for the 2017 All-National Honor Ensembles program at Walt Disney World. 

Sixth Grader to Represent Tennessee in Southern Junior Tennis Cup
Melanie Woodbury ’24 has been playing tennis since she was 6 years old. As an 11-year-old, she ranks among the top 100 players in the nation, and third in the state of Tennessee in her age division. She is one of three girls invited to represent Tennessee in the Southern Junior Tennis Cup this weekend, where she will compete against the best tennis players from across the country.

Eleventh Grader Runs Light Booth for Professional Theater Production
For the past three weeks, Hutchison junior Sally Crow ’19 has been running the light board for 9 to 5, The Musical at Playhouse on the Square, one of Memphis’ resident professional theater companies. Working with a professional stage manager, she is responsible for all light cues throughout the production. Sally has been refining her craft at Hutchison since she was in 5th grade, and last year, designed the lighting for a variety of school productions including last year’s upper school play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. She attributes her success to the guidance and encouragement she received from Hutchison teacher Louisa Koeppel and many other members of our faculty.

Advanced Honors Film Students Selected for Indie Film Fest
Junior Anna Catron Lee ’19 and senior Stuart Collier ’18 have both had films selected for the 2017 Indie Memphis Youth Film Fest. Stuart’s film is a top-25 finalist for the $500 prize and Anna Catron’s film is featured in a non-competition narrative film screening event during the festival. Their films will be screened at the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum this weekend. Both Stuart and Anna Catron were students in Nick Simpson’s Advanced Honors Film course last spring at Hutchison.
